54 Mbps Adapter

Buying The Right Router
Wireless routers are a staple in many houses and businesses. They supply individuals with a way to unite many computers, printers, and other types of electronic devices to the Net and to each other. Many of us beleive that all routers function in the same way and have several of the same features - but this isn't true.
There are numerous various brands to pick out from and every one will be contrasting then the next. When purchasing one you should think about what your router is for and how fast you need it to be. In order to do that you need to look at each of the different views assigned to it.
Speed
Routers work in speeds of megabits per second. Older models will go 11 Mbps or maybe even 54 Mbps. Still, the newest models can go up to 300 Mpbs. While this speed is inviting to have it is not always mean that it performs well. Remember that your router cannot be quicker than your Internet connection. At times that extra speed is not worth the price.
Style
The size and style of the unit can be crucial to people who don't want a large piece of equipment sitting it out for everyone to see. Luckily numerous of these are made to be small and compact. This makes it simpler to store them in a drawer or cabinet where it works fine - but is out of the way.
Matching Products
It will aid your Internet connection if you purchase a router that was produced by the same manufacturer as the network adapter. Most vendors will have the ability to optimize the communication protocols to the equipment that they have. For example if you have a Netgear adapter than you have to buy a Netgear router. This could give you better performance than if you used another product.
Wireless G Adapter will it increase my connection?
I Have a connection of 54.0 mbps on my computer right now will a wireless G adapter increase my connection or will it stay the same from my understanding a G adapter only gives your computer a 54.0 mbps connection right? thats why I'm asking.
You're right, it wouldn't change.
You must already have a 802.11g connection now if it's at 54.0. B maxes out at 11.0.

For convenience, wireless networking is the answer. Which Wireless Standard Is Right for Me? Now that you've decided to create a wireless network, the next step is to figure out which wireless standard to use. Basically, a standard is a set of specifications for a device. All devices that follow a specific standard share operating characteristics, such as the radio frequency used and maximum data transfer speed. For wireless networking, there are three standards to choose from at this time: 802.11b 802.11a 802.11g To learn about the differences between the standards and select the right one for your network, click here for an easy-to-understand chart.
