How would you rank Earth link internet?
My cheap midget boyfriend want internet. SBC and Road Runner were too much for his budget. And he was wondering if Earth Link DSL was a decent internet service. Is there any other cheap internet services?
Verizon DSL is fairly cheap. Earthlink is decent, but if you need support you better learn how to speak garbage - because that is what it sounds like on the phone.
Example:
"Hello sir, blah blah Steve. How blah blah help?"
You know his name isn't Steve.
The Sky’S The Limit With Satellite Internet
The earliest human civilizations looked up to the sky for meaning, trying to understand what existed beyond the earth’s surface. Curiosity in celestial objects such as the moon and the stars led to the creation of astronomy, one of the oldest sciences that arose even before recorded history. For centuries people studied outer space, an endeavor made easier with the invention of the telescope in the 17th century. Some dreamed about space exploration and writers such as Jules Verne vividly described fictional space voyages in his work in the late 19th century. Yet few people imagined that in the 20th century, these dreams would become reality and transform the human relationship with outer space.
The year 1957 symbolizes the beginning of this new space era, as it is the year that Sputnik became the first human-made satellite to orbit the earth. Interest in space programs increased and first animals, then human beings, were rocketed into the sky. Cooperation between countries also become very important and the treaties that govern outer space until today were signed. These treaties emphasize that space is beyond any country’s national sovereignty and it is shared by all of humankind.
Since that time, spacecraft have traveled far into the universe and deepened our knowledge of faraway galaxies. Yet it is the objects in space much closer to home that have great impacts on our daily lives. Thousands of human-made satellites now rotate our planet, hundreds of which transmit information that deepens our knowledge and provides us with services each day.
One such service is satellite internet, one that only recently has become accessible for the average person. Satellites are sent up into geostationary orbits, which means that they orbit at the earth’s speed of rotation and remain over the same landmass. The signal travels over 22,000 miles to the satellite and then back to earth, captured by a small dish on your house. The dish must be positioned towards the south, with a clear view of the sky, which allows it to acquire the signal and provide the satellite internet service in your home.
The internet is truly international, a place that links people in the United States to Europe to Asia and beyond. When you go online you leave behind country boundaries and enter a global space. It therefore seems quite fitting that the greatest “network of networks” – the internet – can be accessed by satellite located in outer space beyond any country’s limits.
Satellite is just one of the ways to go online and become part of the international community. The other options that provide fast connections are DSL and cable. Yet both of these options are limited in scope, and they leave rural residents and many city dwellers out of the loop. Satellite internet corrects this imbalance, by offering an option to everyone, virtually anywhere in the world.
Satellite broadband is therefore most true to what the internet is: a global network of networks. With this service, you can connect to the international community in the most universal of all ways.
