LG BD570 Network Blu-ray Disc

Having reviewed previous LG Blu-ray including the vaunted BD390, BD570 to our expectations were quite high and happily, LG will not disappoint. While some of LG's competitors (in particular, Pioneer and Sharp) think of audio / video performance is all that matters, LG embraces the idea that convenience and choice of media format and distribution also are important to many consumers. So the BD570 includes one of the richest deals in the media playback of any Blu-ray, including Internet streaming of Netflix, CinemaNow, VUDU and Pandora. The player also supports DLNA networking to access audio and video files on a home network as well. For those with a library of videos on their computers, the BD570 supports Divx, Xvid and MKV files, as well as a number of other formats and codecs.

In terms of performance, the BD570 Blu-ray features in excellent audio and video clarity (as it should), and performs the most difficult tasks on the right upconverting DVD as well - excellent diagonal filtering 3:02 cadence detection, for example.

In general, with its integrated WiFi, DLNA networking, multimedia playback and streaming of Internet offerings, along with solid playing Blu-ray player, the BD570 provides a good combination of performance and comfort at a value price.

The best features in my opinion, apart from the fact that plays Blu-ray discs, is that you can transmit to the right of the Netflix box and play content from your networked computers. I set up the BD570 last night and played around with it a bit. reproduction DVD seemed fine. Configuring Wi-Fi connection was not too difficult, either. It would have been much easier if our Wi-Fi SSID is transmitting. In addition, alternating with capital letters on the onscreen keyboard for entering SSID / password was not immediately obvious. The built in Wi-Fi is an advantage however, the Samsung I was looking at comes with a Wi-Fi adapter we had to connect via USB and install (seems like Wi-Fi was an afterthought). If your modem or router / access point is close enough to your entertainment center, including the LG could be connected via Ethernet to the best streaming performance.

Netflix Setup was a breeze. You are given an activation code, log into your Netflix account on your computer and type in the code, and go. You can then browse through your instant queue, or browse by category, etc (Other products with similar characteristics not allow you to watch movies with non-cola. That is, you have to manually add the computer before they appear on the tail of TV) The quality seems pretty decent -. Maybe a little more pixilated than connect my laptop to stream Netflix to the TV via s-video. It may just be a matter of settings to adjust the relationship TV aspect and / or BD player. In addition, the cover film seemed a bit slow in loading while browsing through titles, but not Biggie.
